Not only due to the anticipation of the Christmas holiday but also because on the 25th of December it was my birthday . On top of that, the name days of my brother and mother were celebrated on the 6th and 15nth of December accordingly. And as if these weren’t reasons enough for festivities my father’s birthday happens to also be on the 28th of this very month.

For all the above reasons I literarily adore advent calendars ever since I was a child. That introduction being done you can imagine my excitement when beloved Ioanna from I wanna be hara invited me to take part in a Crochet Advent Calendar with one of my patterns. The concept was that a group of crocheters would join forces to create 24 original patterns inspired by Christmas. Each pattern would feature in one day of the calendar and would be shared on Instagram and on our blogs, absolutely free for everyone who loves crochet to enjoy.

At this point, I would like to express that I feel very honored to have been given the opportunity to collaborate with a group of amazingly talented crocheters. 21 crochet designers worked together in a commendably unselfish manner, helping each other whenever needed to produce this Christmas Crochet Advent Calendar. I thank them all for their kind words and supportiveness. I would like to especially thank Ioanna from @Iwannabehara who was the inspirer and coordinator of this entire venture. Special thanks also to Despoina from @nioshandmade for testing my pattern and for her precious corrections and suggestions.

On this 17nth day of December that was assigned to me, I decided to share with you a cute Crochet Christmas Bell. For this crochet bell, I chose to use cotton thread for two different reasons. The first is because I love the appearance of this white delicate yarn when it comes to creating an ornament for the Christmas Tree. The second reason is that cotton thread is extremely absorbent and it can easily be stiffened with fabric starch or modge modge.

However, if you find thin cotton thread a bit Intimidating or if you are not able or willing to get a bell mold and soak your hands in starch, have no fear. You can use a thicker acrylic yarn provided that you will also use the appropriate hook size and with some extra tension on your stitches, your bell will have no need for starching.

Before moving to the pattern please note that at the end of this post you will find all the other patterns that preceded my Crochet Christmas Bell. This post will also be updated with all the patterns that will follow, until the last day of our Crochet Christmas Advent Calendar. So make sure to click on these links at the end of this page.

Supplies

Crochet hook (1.25mm)

Crochet cotton thread size 10

Polystyrene bell 5x 4.5cm

Starch or Mod Podge

Difficulty

Easy

Gauge

Not imperative

Bell Dimensions

5cm (H) x 4.5cm(W) apr.

Abbreviations

US Terms

R: Round

mr : magic ring

ch : chain

sc: single crochet

sl st : slip stitch

dc : double crochet

cl3: cluster stitch (from 3dc)

Cl4: cluster stitch (from 4dc)

st/sts : stitch/stitches

Special Stitches:

Cluster Stitch 3:

Yarn over, insert your hook into the next stitch, yarn over again and pull a loop.
