Metallic shines is one of the hottest trends in bags for winter 2019 -2020 along with fur. And when it comes to holiday outfits we ‘re all about metallics anyway. So if you want to look festive and effortless you can’t go wrong with sequins.

A Crochet Purse with Sequins is a timeless accessory that is always on par for a party scene, whether it’s a holiday party or a wedding. And to your big surprise, it’s not difficult at all to create, though beads and sequins are known to fill crocheters with terror.

Do not be intimidated by the thought of using sequins. The new generation of sequins is constructed of flexible light material. No sharp edges no cuts no scratches no breaking. Trust me they are much easier to handle than you can imagine.

This sequin evening bag has the design of a simple zippered crochet purse. It is worked in rounds with a simple crochet mesh stitch. The pattern is worked in multiples of 3 plus 2 and its quite versatile. It’s imperative to attach the lining to this specific bag due to its mesh structure.Crochet Purse with Sequins

Weave the tail in the reverse side of the stitches at the inside of the bag. Make sure to tie a couple of knots before you cut the excess. Burn the end of the yarn with the lighter.

Zipper attachment

Use the pins to place the zipper at the proper point and then sew it on your back using needle thread and the backstitch technique.

Supplies:

  • 2mm Polypropylene cord (macramé cord) 120-140m
  • 50 gr sequins 2.5cm (3.5mm hole)
  • Crochet hook size 3. mm (US C/2)
  • Crochet hook size 4. mm (US G/6)
  • Sewing thread  (macramé cord color)
  • 30 cm Zipper
  • Sewing needle
  • Lining fabric
  • Scissors
  • Lighter
  • Pins

Tips:

  • You could also use 2cm sequins with 1mm cord but keep in mind that your purse would turn out much smaller but still big enough to fit your cellphone, keys and pocket money. Just makes sure to increase the original chain by two chains and the number of rounds by two or 3 rounds according to your preference.
  • You could also use plastic mesh to reinforce your purse especially if you make using smaller sequins and thinner cord.
  • You could also insert a silver O ring with an inward opening into one of the upper corners of the bag and then insert a  9cm silver hook into the o ring to use as a handle. Personally I prefer it as simple as it gets.

Happy Holidays glamorous holidays everyone with your brand new crochet purse with sequins!
