In this video you can watch how to make Egg carton flowers and use them to create a 3D wall art piece. This project is a wonderful way to recycle egg cartons and also toilet paper which we will also use.
Tools and materials:
- 1 egg carton
- 1 toilet paper roll
- 1 Napkin
- scissors
- Glue
- Modge Podge
- Metal paint
- 2 Brushes
- Clothespins
- Canvas
Instructions:
Cut and separate 4 individual egg cups and trim the outside edges. Make 4 transverse cuts and form a cross. Point and smooth the arms of the cross to form the petals of the Egg carton flowers. Cut 4 small pyramids (egg cup separators) out of the egg carton and trim the edges.
Cut along the binding line of the toilet paper roll and make 10 pointy edged strips. Wallpaper your canvas with the napkin, using a brush and mogdge-podge (Decoupage technique) and let it dry.Paint the paper cups and the strips using the metal paint and a brush and let them dry as well.
Glue the trimmed pyramids to the center of the petals to form the Egg carton flowers. Glue some of the strips together using clothespins, to form joined leaves. Arrange the flowers and the leaves on your canvas and attach them with glue. Done!
Tips:
- Instead of canvas you can use a piece of wood, a cardboard, or the cover of shoe box as a background.
- Instead of decoupaging your background you can also paint it.
- I used acrylic metal craft paint but spray paint is just as fine.
