Have your ever seen faces staring at you in the mirror while you were alone in the room? Well now you will! In this video you can watch how you can make your owrn Mirror art by embeding images in a mirror.
Tools and materials:
- An unframed mirror at the size of your choice
- Photocopies of photographs
- Modge podge
- Oven cleaner
- Steel wire wool and scraper (or paint stripper)
- Scissors
- A brush
- A pencil
- A Frame (or a colored wood board slightly bigger from your mirror)
- A picture hanger
Instructions:
Choose the photographs you will use on your Mirror art. Make photocopies of them and trim the corners or any unwanted areas. Arrange the pictures on the back of the mirror. Turn them facing down and use a pencil to trace them. Remove the pictures from the mirror.
Scrape away and remove the backing paint of the mirror, using a steel wire wool and a scraper or some paint stripper, to avoid scraping. Spray some oven cleaner in the areas where the backing paint is gone. Avoid the fumes. Let it stay for five minutes. Wash the mirror to remove any a residue and dry it with a paper towel.
Apply some modge podge in a transparent area. Place the matching picture facing down. Apply some more modge podge and use your brush to eliminate any air bubbles. Repeat with the rest of the pictures and let them dry for a few hours. Frame your mirror or use silicone or mirror glue, to attach it on a wood board (like I did) and let it dry for a night.
Attach a picture hanger on the back of the wood board and your Mirror art is ready! You can use the same technique to decorate your mirrors with craft paper or fabric or whatever material can be decoupaged at the back of your mirror.
Enjoy!
