Crochet Circle Bag Minimal and simple, this Flat Circular Crochet bag will tie together any look, from an eerie Boho dress to a utility suit. Ideal to match your stylish pair of sandals it can be the perfect seaside accessory or just a vacation mood maker while still in town.
Although craftwork has become a year-round trend in bags, one must confess that crochet bags are the absolute must-have summer fashion item. The Crochet Circle Bag that you will witness being born in this new video by paraligo is a fine example of the above-mentioned principle.
The slanting waistcoat stitch that I used to create this summer bag was introduced in my previous video where demonstrated how to make my version of the very popular macaron bag. For those of you who missed my Round Crochet Bag, you can find that video here.
The main and maybe only challenge that this pattern presents is that it cannot progress as a typical crochet project worked in the round. By trying to use the usual number and style of increases I would have used with a simple waistcoat stitch the appearance of my work turned out to be quite disappointing.
As a consequence, I was forced to be more creative, which I fear resulted to a slightly hard to explain, but certainly worth the try pattern, that hopefully my video and written directions will make possible to comprehend.

2nd Half of the bag:
Repeat all the steps from start till here to make an exact copy of the first half of the bag.
Assembly:
Place one half on top of the other bad side facing the side. Place 12 slip stitches into the first 12 stitches of the top half. Carefully align the 2 halves and continue slip-stitching by inserting into the corresponding stitches of the second half, to join them. Continue slip stitching the two halves together until left with 12 stitches. Place the last 12 sip stitches into the top half of the bag only.
When you complete the 12 stitches turn your work to face the other half of the bag. Place one slipstitch around the handle and the place 12 slip stitches into this half of the bag only. when you reach the start of the seam continue placing one slip stitch in each stitch in this half of the bag only. Make sure not to penetrate the other half.
Place the last slip stitch around the handle, cut the yarn, fasten off and weave the tail in the reverse side of the stitches. Make sure to make a tight knot to secure your yarn. Cut the excess and repeat at the other side of the bag.
Tips:
- I chose to give this bag a disk-shaped, flat circular form, that for some of you may be considered not practical for everyday use. You could easily add a thin side panel to the same project by expanding each half of the bag by 4 more rounds of no increases. 2 of which would rounds of reverse slips stitches and the other two 2 similar to the 18th and 20th round.
- The hidden reverse rounds of slipstitches might seem like an extreme waste of yarn but they serve two purposes. The first is to bring the yarn to right to point as the round is interrupted by the handle gap. The second purpose is that they increase the stiffness of the wall of the bag and eliminate the need to use reinforcement.
That was all folks enjoy the video and I am leaving you certain that your favorite fashion accessory for this Summer, is going to be this Crochet Circle Bag.
